Anders Thomas Jensen (born April 6 1972 in Frederiksværk) is a Danish screenwriter and film director.

In the period 1996-1998 he made the three short films Ernst & The Light (da:Ernst & lyset), Wolfgang, and Election Night (da:Valgaften), which were all nominated for an Oscar; the latter film also won the award.

From the end of the 1990s and into the new millennium he wrote the screenplays for most of the Danish movie blockbusters of the period, including Mifune's Last Song (international English title) (da:Mifunes sidste sang, together with Søren Kragh-Jacobsen), In China They Eat Dogs (UK/USA title) (da:I Kina spiser de hunde), Open Hearts (international English title) (da:Elsker dig for evigt), Stealing Rembrandt (international English title) (da:Rembrandt), and Brothers (international English title) (da:Brødre).

In 2000 Anders Thomas Jensen for the first time directed a feature film: the comedy/action Flickering Lights (international English title) (da:Blinkende lygter) and since then directed The Green Butchers (international English title) (da:De grønne slagtere) and Adam's Apples (international English title) (da:Adams æbler).

In 2005 he received the Nordisk Film Award (1000 Danish kroner times the age of Nordisk Film).
