Andrew McCarthy (born November 29, 1962) is an American actor who appeared in several films during the 1980s.
McCarthy grew up in Westfield, New Jersey and began acting at 15. He attended New York University as a theater major. His first film role was as the lead in the 1983 film Class.
His better known films include the Brat Pack films St. Elmo's Fire and Pretty in Pink. Other memorable roles include Weekend at Bernie's, a comedy where he parades around the corpse of his boss, and Mannequin, where he falls in love with a mannequin who comes to life only when he is alone.
Although he had few roles in the 1990s, he returned to prominence in 2004 playing Dr. Hook in Kingdom Hospital. Since 2005 he has appeared with some regularity in episodes of the TV show E-Ring.
