Candace Helaine Cameron Bure (born April 6, 1976 in Panorama City, California) is an American actress best known for playing Donna Jo (D.J.) Tanner on the television show Full House. She is the sister of Kirk Cameron, and is married to Russian ice hockey player Valeri Bure. She and Bure have three children: Natasha Valerievna Bure (Наташа), born August 15, 1998; Lev Valerievich Bure (Лев), born February 20, 2000; and Maksim Valerievich Bure (Максим), born January 20, 2002.

TV career

Candace Cameron started in the entertainment business by participating in a number of television commercials. Soon after, she got guest starring roles on shows like St. Elsewhere, Growing Pains, and Who's the Boss. When Candace was in the show Full House, it gave her the opportunity to work with many people that she now knows and loves. She and the three girls who played her sisters (Jodie Sweetin and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) are great friends.

In 1986, at 10 years of age, she got the call to audition for the role of D.J. Tanner on Full House. She impressed the studio executives and producers so much that they delayed taping the pilot to allow her to complete work on her other obligations. The show instantly became one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. Its eight-year run ranks it among the top series of all time.

Cameron also drew critical acclaim for her work in other roles. Her portrayal of an abused teenager in No One Would Tell gave her some publicity. She followed it with starring roles in She Cried No, and Night Scream for NBC. She also guest starred on such network hits as Cybill and Boy Meets World.

Cameron also guest starred in one episode of Bill Nye The Science Guy as Candace The Science Gal.

Cameron will guest star in one episode of That's So Raven as Courtney, Raven's History Teacher.

Film career

Her feature film credits also include Punchline with Tom Hanks and Sally Field among others.

Recent years

On June 22, 1996, Cameron married NHL hockey star Valeri Bure. They were introduced by Cameron's former co-star in Full House, Dave Coulier. They have three children together. Since then, Cameron has been on a self-imposed hiatus to raise their children. They spend the majority of their time in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Parkland, FL where Valeri played for the nearby Florida Panthers.

However, she is currently executive producing and starring in The Krew, a half-hour awareness video aimed at helping children avoid and deal with dangerous situations in every day life. In 2006, as a reflection of her evangelical faith, she began endorsing several online Christian homeschooling academies.

Faith

Since becoming a born-again Christian, like her brother, she has stated that she will not accept further roles in film or television that would make her go against her Christian principles, and will not do scenes involving any kind of nudity. She makes various guest appearances at Christian gatherings and in 2006 she visited Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
