David Morrissey (born June 21, 1964) is a leading British stage and screen actor.

David Morrissey was born in Everton, Liverpool, England, but has played roles requiring several different accents. He made his television debut in 1983, after training with Everyman's Youth Theatre in Liverpool. His wife is the novelist Esther Freud, with whom he has three children.

At the 2004 BAFTA awards, Morrissey was nominated for Best Television Actor for his performance in the drama serial, State of Play. In the same year, the play The Deal, in which he co-starred as Gordon Brown to Michael Sheen's Tony Blair, won the award for Best Single Drama.
