Her father was a musician who worked with Doris Day. Di Novi studied communications at Simmons College.

Di Novi produced Heathers, A Walk to Remember and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

From 1989-1992, Di Novi ran Tim Burton Productions and produced Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, and Ed Wood.

Has two sons, Mack and Nicholas.
