Ilene Chaiken is the creator, writer and executive producer of the television series The L Word. Chaiken had previously written the screenplay "Barb Wire" (1996), and the television movies "Dirty Pictures" (2000), and "Damaged Care" (2002) before the success of The L Word raised her profile. She was also the coordinating producer for the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" (1990) and the associate producer for "Satisfaction" (1988). Prior to writing and producing, she worked as a casting agent trainee for CIA, and as an executive for Alan Spelling and Quincy Jones Entertainment.
She and her partner of 22 years, Miggi Hood (an architect), have 2 children (twins): Tallulah and Augusta, who are 11 years old. Ilene graduated from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design).
