Jay Roach (born 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American film director and producer whose credits include the Austin Powers movies, and the hit comedies Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers starring Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller.
In 1994 he co-wrote with John Rice and Joe Batteer the film Blown Away starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones.
He produced a 2005 movie based on Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy novel.
He is married to Susanna Hoffs, of The Bangles fame.
He is good friends with directors Alexander Payne, Spike Jonze and David O. Russell.
He was developing the science fiction comedy Used Guys with actors Jim Carrey, Emily Mortimer, and Ben Stiller, but the the studio (20th Century Fox), cancelled the production due to budget concerns. Debbie Liebling, whom Roach has worked with numerous times, was the Fox executive on the project.
