Jeanne Tripplehorn (born June 10, 1963) is an American film actress.
She is primarily known for starring opposite Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct and alongside Kevin Costner in Waterworld as well as in The Firm (film) alongside Tom Cruise. Tripplehorn is a stage-trained actress and was originally a local DJ and TV host.
She currently appears in the HBO drama Big Love.
Personal life
Tripplehorn was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Just after graduating high school, she became a DJ at Tulsa radio station KMOD, using the air name "Jeanie Summers". Her father, Tom, was once a guitarist with Gary Lewis & the Playboys. For a while, Tripplehorn was engaged to actor Ben Stiller. She is married to actor Leland Orser; the couple have a son, August, born in 2002.
