Kyra Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an Emmy nominated American actress.
Biography
Early life
Sedgwick was born in New York, New York to Henry Dwight Sedgwick V and Patricia Rosenwald.[1] She is the great-granddaughter of Endicott Peabody, the founder of the Groton School; and also a cousin of the socialite and heiress Edie Sedgwick. Sedgwick's father was an Episcopalian and her mother was Jewish. Kyra considers herself Jewish.[2] A 1996 interview referred to her as "an all-American Jewish WASP actress".[3] Sedgwick graduated from the University of Southern California.
Career
Sedgwick made her debut on the television soap opera Another World at the age of sixteen. During the 1990s, she appeared in several minor Hollywood movies, such as Something to Talk About (1995) and Phenomenon, in which she played the love interest of John Travolta's character. Sedgwick is currently living in California, filming her TV series, The Closer. In July 2006, she received an Emmy nomination for her performance as lead actress in that series.
Personal life
Sedgwick and her husband, Kevin Bacon, live in Connecticut. They were married on 3 September 1988, and they have two children, Travis Bacon and Sosie Ruth Bacon.
Kyra Sedgwick possesses a Bacon number of 1, as she is one degree away from her husband Kevin Bacon via five films, Loverboy, Pyrates, Murder in the First, The Woodsman, and Lemon Sky (during which they met).
