Scott Rudin (born July 14, 1958) is an American motion picture producer not only known for his award winning films, but also his legendary temper.

Rudin was born in New York City. It is estimated that Rudin has had anywhere between 120 and 250 assistants over a four year period, earning him his title of Hollywood's most feared boss

Scott Rudin also inspired the movie Swimming with Sharks.

Films Rudin produces tend to straddle the high-concept/arthouse-mainstream divide. They include The Firm, Sister Act, The Truman Show, The Hours, Stepford Wives, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Manchurian Candidate, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Closer, and The Queen.

Rudin is currently developing an adaptations of the novel The Corrections and the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

Scott Rudin also co-produced with Robert Redford, Steven Zaillian's adaptation of Jonathan Hare's non-fiction book - 'A Civil Action' (1998) starring John Travolta and Robert Duvall as opposing lawyers who respectively represent residents of Woburn Mass., and the multi-million dollar corporations - Beatrice Foods & Grace Industries. The film 'documents' the largest environmental 'out of court' settlement in that New England states history, 69.4 million US.
