Susie Essman is an American stand-up comedienne and comic actress in television and films.

Born in Manhattan to a Jewish family, she is well-known for her role as Susie Greene on the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Susie Greene is the wife of Jeff Greene (played by Jeff Garlin), Larry David’s agent. Her character is quick to anger, especially in reaction to her husband’s lies and Larry David’s schemes, and responds to both with profanity-laden invectives ("You fat fuck!" "You four-eyed fuck!").

However, Susie's character does have a softer side—in the episode "The Nanny From Hell", she scolds Larry for bringing twelve sponge cakes home for Jeff as a birthday present, but we later see her serenely and sincerely thank Larry. The sponge cakes had broken Susie's fall after she had been pushed over her balcony by a frenzied nanny (played by Cheri Oteri) — whom Larry had referred to the Greenes in the first place. Larry David called this the "kinder, gentler Susie Greene".[1]
 

Essman also provides the voice of Helen Higgins on the Comedy Central show Crank Yankers and has appeared on countless stages as a veteran comedienne and on screen as an actress, starting with memorable comic character cameos in three 1988 films—Crocodile Dundee II, Baby Boom and Punchline.

On October 15, 2004, she performed at the Friars Club roast of Donald Trump, in which she lampooned the tycoon with lines like "Donald, did you enjoy your meal? I heard your hair ordered the salmon" and "I'm so not your type. I'm smart, my boobs are real and I speak English". [2]

Essman received her bachelor's degree from Purchase College, a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
