Tammin Pamela Sursok (born August 19, 1983 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is an Australian actress and musician. She is best known for playing the role of Dani Sutherland on the television series Home and Away. Dani Sutherland, on Home & Away is the daughter of Rhys Sutherland and fiance of Scott Hunter. She is now also pursuing a singing career (under the name Tammin), with her debut single, "Pointless Relationship", released on November 14, 2004 and debuting in the top 10 of the Australian singles chart the following week. The single was said to be based on her recent relationship with Michael Humphries, a sports teacher at Knox Grammar School.

Biography

Tammin is South African born third generation. She migrated as a child from South Africa. Her mother, Julie Sursok, won a Springbok award for Best New Female Vocalist prior to the family leaving for Australia. As she was also a classically trained pianist and guitarist, Tammin grew up in an acting and musical household. Her father is a marketing executive. She has a sister Michelle and a brother Sean.

She also danced since the age of six and was involved in the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre where she pursued her interests in acting, music and dance. Tammin attended the Trinity Speech and Drama, finishing with a High Distinction. In her final years she studied speech and drama while attending Ravenswood School for Girls in Gordon, Sydney.

Tammin commenced her role as Dani Sutherland in 2000 winning a Logie Award for Best New Female Talent in 2001. For her service to acting she was later also awarded the Australian Centenary Medal by the Government of Australia. While working on Home and Away, Sursok was also writing songs and practising guitar. She left Home and Away in 2004 to pursue a musical career.

She has a pet Parrot, and two dogs, Smudge and Harry. She moved to USA in February 2006 to pursue an acting career. Tammin is signed with the famous Gersh agency in Los Angeles.

In 2006 Tammin placed first out of the Australian entries in FHM magazine's poll of the Hottest Women of 2006. Though her career has become relatively quiet since she left for the United States of America, "she has remained on the minds of Aussie men" and came first of the Australian women in the poll, at number four.

Music Career

In January 2004, Tammin signed with recording giants, Sony Music Australia. Since then, she recorded material in Los Angeles, London and Stockholm with leading producers such as Steve Robson (Natasha Bedingfield, Natalie Imbruglia), the Location Crew (Dido, Christina Aguilera) and Soulpower (Christina Milian, Brandy). "Pointless Relationship" was produced by A-Side Productions, who have also worked with Britney Spears and Ashlee Simpson. "Pointless Relationship" reached number 5 in the ARIA charts at its peak and stayed in the ARIA Top forty for fifteen weeks. "Pointless Relationship" is certified Gold (Australia). A month after "Pointless Relationship" was released, Tammin's record company Sony Music Australia merged with BMG to form SonyBMG and she was resigned to that company.

Tammin's second single lifted from the album is "Whatever Will Be", released in Australia on March 27th, 2005, it debuted at number thirteen in the Australian ARIA charts. On its first week of release on Australian radio, "Whatever Will Be" was the number one most added song. "Whatever Will Be" was written and produced by The Location Crew.

Tammin's debut album, also called Whatever Will Be was released on May 22nd 2005 in Australia. It also debuted at number thirteen.

The third single from the album is "It's a Beautiful Thing", released on 25 July 2005 (Australia). It reached the top thirty of the Australian ARIAnet Singles Chart. The song appears on Tammin's album Whatever Will Be and is a fun, energetic guitar track written by American songwriter Matthew Gerard, who also wrote Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway. Tammin cut the vocals in Australia with "celebrity producers" Mike and Andrew from Human Nature and then Matthew produced and mixed the track in LA. The video features Tammin rockin' out with her band and some really fun, hot outfit changes.

Tammin was originally supposed to release 'Pointless Relationship' in the UK through Sony BMG UK on August 22, however Tammin opted for a role in an international movie instead. It is said that the album will be released in the UK sometime this year 2006, however no dates have been confirmed, though it has been confirmed that 'Pointless Relationship' will not be the song released, it will in fact be a new song that has not been released in Australia.

Despite rumours of Tammins recording company SonyBMG releasing her from her musical commitments with them, Tammin is still signed on with the recording giants to this date. She has also commented on her official website that she is currently writing and recording songs.
