In Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, 17-year-old Bella Swan falls in love with her classmate Edward Cullen. The only problem? He's a vampire. Bella and Edward's romance has repercussions for everyone around them, vampire and human alike, and will forever change everyone's lives. (Including yours, Twilighters!)
If you're not already drinking the Twilight Kool-Aid -- and have no idea if you're on Team Edward, Team Jacob, Team Switzerland, or what that all even means -- we've put together a handy guide to the key players (vampire and human) you'll see in Twilight and how they all fit in within the world first revealed on the pages of Meyer's addictive debut novel.
Find out more about Bella, Edward, their friends, family, and enemies, and get ready to watch the first chapter of the Twilight saga unfold onscreen.

Max Pendragon writes: on Nov 06 2008 03:28 PM I am actually looking forward to this movie. I thought the book needed more action (It's the male inside of me) feeling it was a bit too boring. But the movie seems to improve on that and in my opinion looks better then the book. I'm excited for the Arizona scenes. I hope they filmed on location. The characters look perfect. (Is Matchity being serious when he says he's excited? It's completely ok I just never thought of Twilight as the kind of movie he would look forward to.) (Reply to this) |

Zippedychick writes: on Nov 06 2008 08:38 PM I'm really really excited about Twilight, I'm a pretty big fan if I do say so myself and yesterday I bought three tickets to the midnight showing, there is no way I'm missing this. This might also be one thing that I don't care what kind of review you give it RT! I admire you guys and your movie reviewing abilities but when you're obsessed with something...you're obsessed! Kevan B. writes: on Nov 06 2008 09:57 PM Can't say I ever heard of Twilight before, but I am always willing to try something new. I was skeptical of Harry Potter, until the movies arrived and found it to be well magical (pun intended). Hope this one lives up to the hype. I will wait to watch the movie before I read the books, to see if I like it. (Reply to this) |

I'm already looking forward to the DVD. (Reply to this) |

ColinTheCimmerian writes: on Nov 08 2008 09:31 PM Thanks to Jen for making this. I'd never heard of this book before a couple months ago when talk of the movie started to spread; I was surprised to discover how popular it actually was. I didn't really know what it was about, but now I at least have a general sense of it. It actually strikes me as being quite similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in terms of character parallels. Edward is to Bella as Angel is to Buffy, the good vampire, so much older than she is, who protects her from others of his kind. The friends too seem similar. Shy, quiet Angela, best friend to Bella = Shy, quiet Willow, best friend to Buffy. Mike Newton, a friend who's obviously attracted to Bella and dislikes her vampire boyfriend Edward = Xander Harris, a friend who's obviously attracted to Buffy and dislikes her vampire boyfriend Angel. The parallels between Jessica Stanley and Cordelia Chase are less obvious, but Cordelia tried and failed to recruit Buffy into her clique of popular kids, and later became a friend/rival; from the brief overview in the guide it sounds like Jessica has a similar role. I find this similarity interesting, because according to my understanding, Twilight is targeted mostly to high school age girls (although obviously its fanbase covers a broader demographic), and is very popular within that demographic. That's the age group Buffy targeted too (although I think males as much as females), and it was equally popular. I wonder if in another 10 years we'll see another similar scenario appear, in either television or literature or some other medium. (Reply to this) |
