Anderson Signs On to be "Departed" with Nicholson & Scorsese
The Hollywood Reporter shares some casting news regarding an all-star project. Director Martin Scorsese ("The Aviator," "Goodfellas"
will be directing "The Departed," which is a remake of the popular Hong Kong gangster film "Infernal Affairs." Already on board are Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon & Leonardo DiCaprio, and the latest actor to join the ensemble is funnyman Anthony Anderson ("Kangaroo Jack," "Barbershop"
. Screenwriter William Monahan (whose debut feature, "Kingdom of Heaven," hits theaters in May) is adapting Felix Chong & Siu Fai Mak's original "Infernal" screenplay. Expect WB to release "The Departed" some time in 2006.

RT-SmellyCat writes: on Mar 17 2005 02:10 PM Hmm... Matt Damon in the Tony Leung role (gangster who's really a cop) is perfect, but I would prefer to see Ed Norton in the Andy Lau role (cop who's really a gangster) over Leo although I'm sure Leo will turn on the charm, too. Can't wait to see this one ... Please please please don't screw it up! (Reply to this) |

Now it's dark writes: on Mar 17 2005 11:34 PM Yeah the crime element was in there, but I'd call it more a period movie, or historical epic. This film seems closer to his classic crime movies. He's been on a dry spell, imo. (Reply to this) |

Sadistik writes: on Mar 18 2005 10:26 PM Once again, Hollywood has pissed me off. Every time I come to RT now I see another great foreign film about to get castrated by the shit-peddlers in Hollywood. The first one (now almost an ancient 3 years old) should get wide release instead. STOP REMAKING GREAT FOREIGN FILMS. PLEASE. (Reply to this) |
