While wandering through the countryside with her dead dog in her arms,... Young French girl Paulette is orphaned when her parents and pet dog are killed while fleeing the Nazis during World War II. While wandering through the countryside with her dead dog in her arms, she is befriended by farm boy Michel, who brings her home to stay with his family.
