It's rubbish, frankly, but rubbish in the nicest, most entertaining way possible.

Although he suffers from a fear of heights, this condition hasn't stopped him from becoming one of the best officers on the force. His specialty is tracking down robots that have gone bad, rebelling against their owners. And because machines have taken over many regular tasks -- even cooking -- in this futuristic society, there's always a need for Ramsey's services. Now, however, he has his toughest assignment yet. Luther, a master criminal, is terrorizing the city by controlling robots everywhere to do his bidding. And, with the help of new, diabolical creations that include electronic spiders and heat-seeking, programmable bullets, Luther seems unstoppable. Will Ramsey and Thompson, his new, female partner, be able to stop the villain? [More]

Reviews for Runaway
Once it turns from the hardware and the action to people, you can hardly believe your eyes or your ears.
Selleck provides a thoughtful performance, coming across as a real, feeling person instead of the expected Rambo-esque tough-guy stereotype.
A nifty futuristic thriller which effectively casts rock-star Gene Simmons as a very bad guy who just oozes evil. A fun flick.
Mr. Crichton has a much better feel for the film's gadgets than for its human players.
Fun sci-fi romp, with an absolutely classic turn by Gene Simmons as the villain. Coulda done without the extended make-out scene over the end credits.
This Michael Crichton robotic nightmare is so trite that the story seems lifted from Marvel Comics.
