Nancy Savoca's (DOGFIGHT, HOUSEHOLD SAINTS) low-budget directorial debut confronts both the joy and fear that a young bride and groom face as their wedding draws near. Everyone in Donna (Annabella Sciorra) and Michael's (Ron Eldard) Italian neighborhood in the Bronx is thrilled that they're planning to wed. But the bride and groom have their own issues. Michael wonders when Donna became so demanding and difficult, while Donna ponders when Michael will grow up. Reviews
Nancy Savoca's first (and still best) film shows a good, sensitive ear to the lingo and subculture of this ethnic milieu, of both genders. Competing at Sudance Fest in 1989, it won the jury award for best drama.
An honest, thoughtful look at a real relationship and the various pitfalls surrounding it.
