Then he meets Renee, a beautiful American woman who is performing in a theatre production in Dublin. Infatuated, Jimmy follows Renee around trying to seduce her. She resists but still agrees to spend time with the boy. Rose becomes jealous of Jimmy's relationship with Renee, so she takes up with another man, a performer in a visiting circus.
