The sweetly naive Rollo Treadway is so wealthy that others always attend to his every need; the girl across the street, whom he truly loves, lives an equally sheltered life. Then he and she get trapped together on an abandoned ship that saboteurs have set adrift. With no one to help them, the hopeless, helpless couple must learn to fend for themselves... Comic highlights include the pair's first, misbegotten breakfast and their initial terror-filled night on the boat. The video also includes two other "watery" shorts: "The Boat" and "The Love Nest". One of Buster Keaton's best, which is to say comedy classic.

Part of Keaton's charm is that he doesn't have to be zany in every single frame, which is charmingly illustrated here.

Keaton is the great metaphysical existentialist: a modernist in the finest sense of the word.

Isn't as sophisticated and satisfying as [Keaton's] best (e.g., The General), but still brilliant slapstick comedy, with a rousing third act and a slam-bang climax.

An astonishingly effective New Zealand film about dreams, death, community, and the mystical dimensions of the human heart.
