What about Brakus (Ralf Moeller) from Best of the Best 2 or Steven Seagal ;-) ?

I can see this thing working for some strange reason.. I mean look at it, they have the perfect example of how NOT to do a Street Fighter movie, so the people behind this latest installment should at least have a heads-up about how to handle this.. sort of.

And yet they still managed to completrly screw a very simple story and made it about side characters. I'm so dissapointed. Is it really that hard to do a little research on the movie you are writing a sscript for. Any idiot could figure out it's about Ryu and Ken. Everyone else is small fries. And Bison isn't as big a bad guy as Akuma. Thats the story they should tell. Too bad this train wreck is already at full speed ahead.

Let's all pray that Chris Klein's character gets knocked off pretty early, perhaps Justin Marks could write in a scene with Chun Li chopping him in half with the flaming sword, then say:

"Defender of Good Acting"

in the US Balrog is black, he's the Mike Tyson character. I agree that this really should be about Ryu and Ken, maybe Akuma kills Gouken their master and then they enter the tournament to track down Akuma and avenge Gouken. What more do you need (besides $20 million in CGI fireballs)?

The first Street Fighter was literally the worst movie I have ever seen and probably will ever see (though it's a virtual tie with Mortal Kombat II *shudders*). I have never been so mad after watching a movie. I literally felt like someone just stole my wallet. This movie will have to win the Academy Award for me to see it even on video. The first one burned me so bad, I will never waste another second of my life on a Street Fighter movie.

has hollywood lost its originality? everything now is a remake, based on a comic, based on a video game, or based on a book. i mean some of these turn out great. but for everyone that does, there's 5 crappy movies to go along with it. hollywood has to understand that we're not going to pay ten bucks to watch a crappy movie anymore. and with blockbuster and hollywood video dying, their rental profit is gonna die too.

they should just make up a new street fighter called 'moon bloodgood.' it's already a better name than most of the characters.

haha i like segal as bison idea. i would honestly see it just for that role. and probably only for that role.

while chris klein fails to instill confidence, the inclusion of a guy from the black-eyed peas solidifies a Razzie nomination. this can't not suck, but the real question is will it suck harder than Mortal Kombat?

BINGO, i've got it. make it like Grindhouse and have MK and SF in one sitting with previews for Tekken in between. It's two reasons never to go to the movies again for the price of one!

Discovering that the pajama brothers are not the key players in the movie is the most promising thing I've ever heard about a video game movie. Those two were nothing but sideshows. A guy who is obsessed with fighting and his egotistical training partner?

The main storyline was Gen's search for a true deathmatch with Gouki, along with his possible association with Chun, Chun's obsession with Bison, Nash's death and Guile's lust for vengeance. I'm amazed that someone in movies likes the game enough to understand this. Most directors would be like previous posters here thinking that Ryu or Sagat are main characters.

This could end up being as good as the first MK. Which is to say, not terrible.

What are you talking about? Ryu is the main character of street fighter as evident by all the anime's (Street fighter II the animated movie, Street fighter alhpa, Street Fighter Alpha generations) and the series (japanese one because the american one sucked terribly) Street Fighter II V. All revolve around Ryu. Chun-li doesn't beat Bison, him and Ken do. And she couldn't dare to stand in the same arena as a Akuma.

Which would be fine and dandy for a second or third film ( SF "3" as you say.) But for the first film thats supposed to revive this well known franchise and erase the fist terrible film (which was also about taking down shadaloo, talk about remaking the same mistakes) the storyline best to go with is not that of a side character who is nowhere near as powerfull as the main character/s. Also correct she took down the organization shadaloo but it wasn't her that beat Bison.

The pajama brothers? lol. That's genuinely funny. Ryu and Ken may not be the best characters in the continuity, but you could do a lot worse in a fighting story than revolve it around a character obsessed with achieving perfection. Am I opposed to Chun Li being the focus here? No. Not at all. Doesn't matter to me so long as the story works. Ahh. But there's the rub. ;-)

I was talking about the story because the movie might not suck so badly with a good story and the Street fighter games has never sucked (well except maybe the EX editions on playstation and PS2 but other than that those they haven't). You are absolutely right though that this, like last, is gonna suck.

seriously, why not make a movie like street fighter alpha, ryu and ken look for the guy who killed their master: akuma, while ryu is fighting his inner demon.
meanwhile chun li is trying to find about some hidden originization.

the whole film gave a good reason why a tournament is being held.

MY GOD: they could simply make a tournament with much backstory. the characters chit chat around inbetween fights. the whole focus of the film not on some weak *** plot but fights. NOW THATS how a SF film should be....

DoA was watchable for some fight scenes, and hopefully this will be too.

SF was never about the story, and neither are most beat-em-ups. They need to focus on making the fights as spectacular as possible (which is difficult when they're casting a bunch of actors and not martial artists), and keeping the story to a minimum...hey, just like fighting games themselves.

I would totally pay 10 dollars to see a bunch of big-screen fights strung together by about 5 minutes of really quick talking between characters.

The best arc of Naruto was that one where all they did was fight constantly.

Jesus H. Christ. The movie hasnt even begin filming yet. We know nothing about the story except that it revolves around Chun-Li and yet some of you are arrogant enough to say it will suck. Based on what? Its crappy predecesor? That is no inclination of a future movie which shares only a name. So far, that is the only thing they have in common. Has Hollywood made a lot of crappy movies lately? Yes. But for crying out loud, wait till you see a trailer to judge it.

WHY??? You foools, Ryu and ken are two of most important and beloved fighters

them as meaningless extras. I refuse to see this movie because of this bias

of common sense and what the fans who built this franchis up would want want!
