Jordan (Ben Shenkman) is a New Yorker in his 30s who is crippled by his lack of ambition. Working in his father's liquor store helps him while away the otherwise boring days spent watching the ice grow in his freezer. When Jordan's best friend Brad (Thomas McCarthy) announces that he is getting married, Jordan starts to panic, wondering if he hasn't been too reluctant to commit to a woman himself. Along comes Sarah (Arija Bareikis), a beautiful casting agent, who after a rocky start, embarks on a brief relationship with Jordan. Though Jordan feels unworthy of her affection, he quickly proposes to her out of fear, prompting her to withdraw from him. As if Jordan didn't have enough troubles, his father is selling the liquor store and moving upstate. If he is lucky, though, there is still a chance that Jordan can make it through Mike's wedding with his sanity intact. First time director Harnick does an effective job of conveying the trials and tribulations of nearing the age of 30 in a modern city. Leading man Shenkman is a believable everyman, and the lovely Bareikis is a suitable object of affection. [Less]

Sentimental and easy, this film barely digs beneath the shellacked surface of a half-hour of 'Friends.'
