Amidst an L.A. landscape of drugs and guns, THE WASH is a comedic working class update of CAR WASH. Written and directed by D.J. Pooh, the film is set to a pounding hip-hop soundtrack, and is populated with numerous rappers including Xhibit, Ludacris, and Eminem. Mild-mannered Sean (Dr. Dre) is under financial stress, is getting no play from the opposite sex, and is without a car since his just broke down. Dee-Loc (Snoop Dog), his roommate, is a troublemaker who smokes and deals pot and works at a local car wash. Despite their vast differences, their friendship stands strong. Dee-Loc throws Sean a bone by getting him a middle-management job at the car wash. But Sean's easy adjustment to an authoritative position and his positive rapport with the boss, Mr. Washington (George Wallace), immediately puts a strain on his relationship with Dee-Loc. The old friends now find themselves at odds with each other both at home and at work. Personal conflicts are soon shoved aside when Mr. Washington is kidnapped by two moronic neighborhood pranksters. Sean and Dee-Loc unite with their co-workers at the wash to rescue their boss. (Eminem plays a psychopathic ex-employee who terrorizes Mr. Washington.) [More]

Reviews
The lame, underdeveloped jokes far outweigh the fresh ones, the women are all chirpy airheads, and the whole thing hangs on a feeble storyline.
You've really got to wonder sometimes how talented people end up in hopeless misfires like this film.
A 100% feeble comedy that exposes the dire acting abilities of two otherwise well respected hip-hop artists.
Two roommates start to antagonize each other after one becomes the other's superior at an LA car wash, and the conflict is played out with grittiness and flippancy.
Snoop, Dre and their buddies take it all in stride -- if they were any more laid-back, they'd be napping in their trailers.
a plotless, mostly humorless time-killer that exists primarily as a 90-minute commercial for a star-studded soundtrack. ... the movie has all the earmarks of the "let's just make it up as we go along" school of filmmaking.
The Wash is Santo & Johnny through a swamp of mounting disinterest.
There is some comic insight here, however unfocused it may be.
Never comes off as desperate--because little effort appears to be put forth by writer-director-co-star DJ Pooh.
