I wonder how people would feel if a room full of men hooted and hollered through the rape sequence in The Accused.

Consensus: Enough exploits the serious issue of spousal abuse to make an illogical, unintelligent thriller.

They marry and have a child, but Slim's happiness is soon lost when she discovers that her husband has a mistress. When confronted, Mitch becomes abusive and proceeds to lay down controlling laws for Slim. As the abuse grows worse, Slim realizes that fleeing is her only path to freedom. Mitch's determination becomes evident as he tracks Slim down, terrorizes her, and uses the legal system to his advantage, scheduling a custody hearing. Realizing that flight and the law are not her strongest allies, Slim takes intensive combat classes, preparing to meet Mitch one last time, intending to kill him in apparent self defense. ENOUGH wisely spins typical gender roles beyond the training of its protagonist. Slim is aided by a sensitive male admirer (Dan Futterman), who has stamina problems, and her daughter Grace (Tessa Allen), who has admirable basketball skills. When it comes time for the climactic last battle, ENOUGH doesn't get bogged down with politics, sexual or otherwise. Instead, it gleefully delivers an elaborate, bloody, final brawl. [More]

Reviews for Enough
This movie seems to have been written using Mad-libs. There can be no other explanation. Hilariously inept and ridiculous.
Clumsy, obvious, preposterous, the movie will likely set the cause of woman warriors back decades.
The contrivances ... are simply too preposterous and laborious to sit through.
A juicy, pulpy and entirely shameless melodrama, the kind of well-tooled popcorn flick that manages the difficult feat of appealing to your worst instincts without making you feel ashamed of yourself.
Contains a strong, effective performance from Jennifer Lopez... but Enough is too bogged down in ineptly crafted formula to work.
The usually reliable director Michael Apted does little to raise the movie's tension or its I.Q. level.
In terms of actual social conscience, the movie gets a demagogic, rabble-rousing F.
Apted has paced Enough with the required amount of snap, keeping the whammies coming at regular and increasingly terrifying intervals.
The picture should really have been titled Uncle, because that's what many men will feel like crying out after enduring this estrogen-fuelled freakout.
Is it just me, or have Jennifer Lopez's movies gotten progressively dumber as her popularity has soared?
If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, Enough just added another lane.
It's just too bad that so much of the film is heavy-handed, manipulative and contrived, or simply so hard to believe.
It's the most tension-producing movie out there right now -- in the best way, it's almost unbearable.
Lopez can act, but why bother in something so painfully false? You don't empower anyone with a lobotomy.
It appears to have been made by people to whom the idea of narrative logic or cohesion is an entirely foreign concept.
You expect more from director Michael Apted (Enigma) and screenwriter Nicholas Kazan (Reversal of Fortune) than this cliche pileup.
