Though born of a wealthy family, Hughes became an astute businessman in his own right, as well as becoming a well-known aviator and a talented film producer. Hughes became as famous for seeking out the spotlight as he did for shunning it utterly in the last years of his life. HOWARD HUGHES contains an abundance of documentary and newsreel footage about the famous billionaire's accomplishments and personal life, and includes three of Hughes's film projects. THE OUTLAW was Hughes's second and final foray into film directing, and was made infamous for its racy themes and dialogue. THE FRONT PAGE was one of the earliest films that Hughes produced, and was based on a popular play by Ben Hecht. Finally, THE SINS OF HAROLD DIDDLEBOCK was directed by comedy auteur Preston Sturges, who coaxed silent comedian Harold Lloyd out of retirement to star in the film. HOWARD HUGHES is an in depth introduction to the life and work of the multi-talented magnate. [More]
