Seth Rogen Set to Make a Porno for Kevin Smith
Wakicha wakicha bow wow.

Discuss Article
In any town other than Hollywood, the words "Kevin Smith," "Seth Rogen," and "make a porno" might seem to make for an unusual combination.

Actually, they're unusual in Hollywood, too -- but, as Variety reports, Smith and Rogen are doing just that. Sort of. Rogen has signed on to star with Elizabeth Banks in Smith's upcoming Weinstein Company comedy, Zack and Miri Make a Porno. From the article:

Story revolves around two lifelong platonic friends who are deep in debt and enlist the help of their friends to make a porn pic for some quick cash. But Zack and Miri realize that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.

The production, scheduled to begin filming in Pittsburgh early next year, will reunite Rogen and Banks -- who worked together on The 40-Year-Old Virgin -- and mark the seventh collaboration for Smith and the Weinstein brothers.

Could be entertaining. I'm not sure I'd go with Seth Rogen however. Although the plot is different, this could end up being a little too similar to Knocked Up having the same lead. If the style of comedy isn't very different, it could all seem too familiar and take away from the movie.

I agree , Dont get me wrong I love Seth Rogen and so far his movies are some of the funniest in a long time . I guess my worry here is over saturation of him right now , he seems to be in everything or writing everything and sometimes that can kill a comic actors popularity . With him being in Green Hornet and a couple other flicks soon I am wondering how long untill he delivers a dud ...

Though i doubt this will be it cuz Kevin Smith is still the king of dialouge driven comedy , and I am sure a movie about friends making a porno then falling for one another will have plenty of hilarious dialouge , This will either be a dream team of comedy , or a clash of styles and not work at all ...

God has finally stopped underachieving in film-land. This is gonna be sweet. Banks - Gorgeous Goddess who could do way better than J.D., Rogen - ****ing Brilliant. Smith -Personal Hero

I can hardly wait for this, I love Smith. I think Rogen is a better supporting actor than lead, but he should be solid in this. I thought Rosario Dawson was going to be in this, I guess it's Elizabeth Banks, I like them both though and am happy either way.

Apatow and Smith's styles are DEFINITELY different enough to make it work...

I wonder if the porno will take place in a bubble bath involving a detachable shower head.

this will be utter hilarium. smith is even more of an envelope pusher than apatow. the kevin smith comeback continues (clerks II was hysterical).

Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen... Zack and Miri...
Never heard the name Miri before so I am guessing it is a chicks name? But this is a Kevin Smtih movie so I wouldn't be surprised if two guys turn gay on each other.

Weren't Rosario Dawson and Zach Braff suppose to star in this movie? Or are they playing different characters than Rogen and Miss. Banks?

.. Or am I just 'that behind' on Kevin Smith movie mania?

I'm a huge fan of all those attached, and i have faith that Smith will knock this one out of the park, but i am a little worried.... Smith is a hater of improv, so i wonder how this is going to flow with Rogen

I am excited to see it though!

if apatow had put the scene with jonah hill ranting about brokeback mountain that you can catch in the deleted scenes on the knocked up unrated dvd i think you could had argues apatow pushes the envelope just as much but then again it was improv so jonah hill would had been pushing the envelope i guess the moral of this story is whom ever hasn't seen that deleted scene needs to track it down...immediately

I believe it's not going to be about Banks or Rogen, but about Smith. His latest attempts they look just like that: attempts. He really needs to focus to stop being experimental and jump to geniality, just like Almodovar did. I love geekiness, but sometimes it's just enough.
I would personally transfer the job to P.T. Anderson.
