Ebert & Roeper Share Their Favorites from '05
TV's biggest and most (relatively) beloved movie critics, Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, have announced their top ten lists for 2005, and you can either listen to the banter on their official site, or you can hang out here and just read 'em. Our way is quicker.

on Jan 04 2006 07:27 AM Only six for me, the other movies I saw in 2005 were fun but not memorable (ie The Island, Sahara, The Longest Yard). 6. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe 5. Kingdom of Heaven 4. Batman Begins 3. Revenge of the Sith 2. Munich 1. Serenity I should point out that I have yet to see King Kong, Syrania, Harry Potter, or Lord of War. All are on my "must see when I have the time" list. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 04 2006 09:17 AM Number one can only be King Kong. I havent seen a movie that made my heart pump that hard in a very very long time. I can only see it age with beauty. And even though this may seem dorky and i know nobdy has it on their list of favs, I have been waiting for the "final fantasy 7 Advent children" film for a very long time. The movie was everything i expected it to be and more. My only regret was not having the chance to watch it in the theatres. The only reason it is number two instead of number one was because of the fact that if you never played through the first game, then you will have no idea what the hell is going on, which makes it just a little bit too weak on it's narrative portion. But if you did though, you have all the filler you need, and that's what makes the film that much more special. 1. King Kong 2. Final fantasy advent children 3. Mangal Pandey:the rising(incredibly underappreciated and overlooked, invloving one of the great peformances of the new decade from Aamir Khan) 4. (tie)Oldboy and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance(dont know if this counts for 2005 but that's when i saw them and both were equally as good as the other) 5. Batman begins 6. Nightwatch(beginning of something that could be great) 7. Layer cake(criminally underrated) 8. Parineeta(saif ali Khan is great in this) 9. Sin city 10. Paheli(magical film. Old school bollywood at it's finest) Honourbale mentions: Black(if i hadnt seen "Miracle worker", this would have been the best film of 2006), Crash, Water, hustle and flow, sereinity, 2046, Bunty aur Babli(i had fun), broken flowers, last days, the constant gardener, SW episode 3. I dont care what anybody says, this has definatly not been a bad year for cinema. Who cares if the box office was in a slump most great movies dont make a lot of money. I know it kind of doesnt make any sense but it's true. Serienity made less then SW. that's my proof. Still havent seen brokeback mountain, syrianna(watching that tonight), goodnight and good luck and capote but expect my list to change once i do. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 04 2006 12:20 PM Sadly, I haven't seen all of the movies this year that I'd like. I still want to see Walk the Line, Munich, Nightwatch (which hasn't been released in my area :(), Capote, Good Night, and Good Luck, Cinderella Man and few others I can't think of right now. It seems my movie viewing has been dominated by sci-fi and fantasy this year. Oh well, it's been fun though. Of all I've seen in 2005, these are my favorites. 10. Unleashed 9. Kung Fu Hustle 8.
