Just when we thought Mel Gibson had plumbed the lowest depths of big-studio nastiness in Payback, along comes Nicolas Cage to do him one better.

Reviews for 8MM
Joel Schumacher's "8 MM" jumps into the underworld of pornography as quickly as a scared rabbit scurries under a fence.
Sometimes sluggish pacing and inordinately long (considering the material) running time.
t's a comlpex achievement; exciting, sad and profound at the same time. It's also one of the year's first pleasant surprises.
Everything here seems like a prop - the detective's wife, his baby, the weirdos he meets in the porn biz, everything.
As it is, everything is on screen too long, and the problems are magnified.
The second half of "8mm" turns into a sort of "Pornman and Robin" as our intrepid heroes are manhandled, handcuffed to beds, tied to crosses and threatened with all manner of debauchery. ... Come back, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. All is forgiven.
Joel Schumacher's Eight Millimeter delves into the perverse underworld of the pornography business, shocking audiences with the realization that sex and violence can be so dull.
It's not anything you want to be exposed to for extended lengths of time.
I guess that if you're the type of person that enjoys lazy-paced films, with a tinge of character development, then you might enjoy this one, despite its impotent conclusion.
Se salva por el buen oficio de su director y por la adecuada edición que presenta, pero pudo haber ido más allá y dejar de ser un thriller como tantos otros
