Reviews
The characters want to live and breathe, but the filmmakers keep trying to smooth off their edges.
It's the perfect star vehicle for Grant, allowing him to finally move away from his usual bumbling, tongue-tied screen persona.
More successful as a Hugh Grant vehicle than as a Nick Hornby adaptation.
For a while the movie has lots of laughs, and a fun Christmas theme besides.
touching, sweet, and sentimental without ever being sappy or cloying
