Yes, that's right: Ace Ventura 3. Apparently it's going to be one of those "son of..." experiments. Because we all know how well Son of the Mask and Son of the Pink Panther turned out.

According to Variety, young actor Josh Flitter (recently seen in Nancy Drew and License to Wed, the poor kid) has been cast in the lead of the third Ace Ventura flick. Needless to say, Jim Carrey will not be involved.

David Mickey Evans will be helming the movie; you might remember him from titles like The Sandlot, The Sandlot 2, and two of those really lame Beethoven sequels. The AV3 screenplay comes from the writing team of Heimberg, Sank and Heimberg -- first-timers all around, as far as I can tell.

Our source indicates that the movie will "center on the son of Ace Ventura following in his father's footsteps by becoming a pet detective for the 7th-grade set and tracking a stolen baby panda after his mother's wrongly arrested for the crime." Production gets underway in September. No word on if this is expected to be a direct-to-video release, but it sure wouldn't surprise me.

I did enjoy the first two but this will be horrible, just like all other Carrey less sequels. Hopefully it does go strait to video.

The type of people that would watch this are the same types that would need charity. They're offering a service to the handicapped that most donors don't: entertainment aimed at the mentally sub-par.

they should just take Fire Marshall Bill...and mooch that away from Carrey with a movie, no wait...a TRILOGY!

Yeah, cause other Jim Carrey vehicles have worked so well without Jim Carrey. Son of the Mask, Evan Almighty, Dumb and Dumberer. Thiswith make for a quadfecta...I did like the original Sandlot though "You're killin me Smalls"

Oh god i hope he says "ALL RIGHTY THEN". This movie is going to rock just like Butterfly effect 2 and Cruel Intentions 2 and Walking Tall 2 and Dumb and Dumberer When Harry Met Loid and Alien vs Predator and Son of the Mask!

I hope that it goes straight to DVD so I can buy it, take it out of its packaging, and shove it up my own *** to save the pain of actually watching this piece of ****.

Ace Ventura had me laughing as a kid. Ace Ventura 2 was unwatchable garbage. But of course, this isn't really a sequel to these movies, it's a spinoff standalone disney channel mouthfart. Do you really consider 'dumb and dumberer' to be the sequel to dumb and dumber? i know i don't, at all. What about 'son of the mask'?
Ace Ventura 3 is simply not a sequel to the original. I know that if I watch this movie, i'm going to be cringing the whole time because I can only assume, this stupid kid is going to be doing a jim carrey impression. Watching this kid say 'allrighty then' and trying to mimic carrey's cartoonish character is going to make me want to grab the magic ticket from last action hero and jump onscreen and kick this kid in his balls.

/only to hear a BOIOIOIOIOING sound effect, i'm sure.
