Bergman--in her second American film--gives a warm, touching performance as Emilie Gallatin, a governess who has been hired as a nanny by the wealthy Adam and Molly Stoppard. As the boys mature and no longer need Emilie's support, Adam insists that she remain in their home as an important member of their family.
