TJHouston88 writes: on Aug 09 2008 06:13 PM How can you not like anchorman??? Any one who dislikes this film as much as you clearly doesn't understand the jokes behind the jokes. Your viewing the comedy too literally. Its not the jokes themselves that are the funny part, its Will Ferrells ability to come out with the most bizzare and complexed inappropriate statements in a way that convinces the viewer that he is so single minded that he believes with a passion every word he is saying, though in the back of your mind you know he is finding it as funny as you are. Thats the beauty of Will Ferrell he convincingly plays an idiot, which ironically is very clever on his part. The whole illusion would be broken if he even showed the smallest sign that he knew what he was saying was funny. But Farrell is the master of the striaght faced character who never even for a second has self doubt or questions himself. Along with Ron Burgundy one of the best characters in the film is lovable weather man Bric Tanner. He comes out with some classic lines such as, "I love lamp", "I heard there periods attract bears, they can smell the menstration", and "Where did you get your clothes from, the toilet store?", just to name a few that pop to mind. People who dont like anchorman are people who like Ron Burgundy are too single minded to get the complexities of the jokes. These people like to no where a joke starts and ends, but anchorman is much more character based than a gags sort of comedy. These are the sort of people that make obvious unfunny jokes about current events whilst hosting dinner parties to so called friends who only laugh in order to not seem rude and then go home and ***** about them behind there backs. These are people who read conspiracy theories and take them as gospel. These people no a small amount about a variety of topics and always have to but into a conversation because they feel they are some sort of expert on what ever topic your discussing. These are the type of smug gits that you just want to smash there faces in everytime they interupt your day to day lives. These are people my friends that you do not want to become! So in order to avoid this tradegy I give you this simple advice, watch it, enjoy it, and love it. You stay classy San Diego! (Reply to this) |
