With a planet-killing asteroid on a collision course with Earth, it's up to a motley crew of scientists and oil drillers (yes, oil drillers) to save the earth. With 18 days to impact, a team from NASA (led by Billy Bob Thornton) frantically tries to find a solution but ends up turning to an outside contractor. Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his team of oilmen are called upon to save the planet as only they can. ARMAGEDDON may boast impressive special effects, but it's the cast--including Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Steve Buscemi, and Owen Wilson--that gives the film its humor and heart. Tyler's father Steven Tyler and his band Aerosmith contributed the Oscar-nominated hit "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" to the soundtrack. [More]

Reviews for Armageddon
Where things fall apart are the scenes that try to put in characterisation, and, God help us, comic relief.
In a dismal summer for popcorn movies, this epic may be the silliest but still looks like the best shot.
A Godzilla-sized blockbuster -- it's an outrageous spectacle, without many brains to speak of, but its heart in the right place.
Armabludgeon is like a roller coast--occasionally exciting, but in the end you've been taken for a long, nauseating ride.
Tenso e com bons efeitos visuais, o filme funciona como diversão (apesar dos clichês).
Resolute on violating every law of dramatic unity and physics, Armageddon makes Deep Impact look like a documentary.
