Reviews for Baseketball
You can't help feeling that the whole project must have begun as an off-the-cuff joke which some studio executive took seriously and greenlighted.
Adolescent boys, or anyone who loves the idea of an extended argument using only the word 'dude,' will no doubt best appreciate BASEketball.
It's filled with solid comic performances, equally effective as both physical and verbal buffoonery.
Sophomoric comedy barely curves a few laughs over home plate, pops up a lot of corny and repetitive jokes, but hits a homerun for originality and strong performances.
The vulgar, obvious humor of Zucker brother David and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone elicits easy, guilty laughs, yet the material has an underlying innocence that's just shy of good clean fun.
I have a terrible confession to make: I laughed myself silly at BASEketball.
Strange as it may seem, David Zucker ends up being the steadying influence which reins in Parker and Stone.
