You can't help feeling that the whole project must have begun as an off-the-cuff joke which some studio executive took seriously and greenlighted.

Reviews for Baseketball
I was bored well before the end, but found the first half hour pretty funny.
I have a terrible confession to make: I laughed myself silly at BASEketball.
It's filled with solid comic performances, equally effective as both physical and verbal buffoonery.
The idea of creating a loose plot outline and costly sets just so two goofballs can clown around and improvise onscreen might sound fun if you're the two goofballs. But it's a chore if you're a member of the audience.
In the end, the surprisingly funny, though vulgar, energy of the first 30 minutes, is traded for distracted and unfocused vulgarity, without the inspired lampoonery.
Their incessant, obscene banter is meant to be endearing; their total lack of presence makes it simply annoying.
Adolescent boys, or anyone who loves the idea of an extended argument using only the word 'dude,' will no doubt best appreciate BASEketball.
