Reviews for Big Night
A well meaning but uninvolving drama. Why do we care about the chefs? I never really figured it out.
A charming, delicate repast prepared by Stanley Tucci and Campbell Scott.
It will be near-impossible not to stop at an Italian restaurant on the way home from this deliciously funny and insightful film.
Similar to Like Water for Chocolate, Big Night celebrates the sensuality of food. It will produce more salivating than an afternoon at Pavlov's lab.
A sumptuous repast, most of the movie's scenes involve either preparing or serving food.
Lovingly crafted by Stanley Tucci, it is a tribute to food, to all things American, to immigrants trying to make it, and to the love between brothers.
The film offers many tasty tidbits, but it feels distended and a bit too delighted with its own modest charms.
