It isn't good, certainly, but despite its numerous faults, it's a surprisingly entertaining mishmash of genres and cliches.

Consensus: Waste of a good cast. For a movie about bike racing, it never gets up to speed.

The great Laurence Fishburne appears as Smoke, the unbeaten "king of Cali" motorcycle racing, and president of The Black Knights. When Smoke's ace mechanic (Eriq La Salle) is killed by a flying bike, his furious son Kid (Derek Luke), starts his own club, the Biker Boyz, to gain respect and challenge Smoke for the coveted crown. Bronx-born director Reggie Rock Blythewood keeps the action flowing from drag race to party and back again, steeping the audience in the ritual of the subculture, allowing it to serve as more than a mere backdrop to the coming-of-age mythos and adrenaline pumping, kinetically edited race and stunt sequences. A great soundtrack helps the narrative roll smoothly over some of the film's dramatically bumpy stretches, and music icon Kid Rock has a memorable turn as Dogg, Smoke's rough riding chief rival. Larenz Tate, Orlando Jones, and Djimon Honsou also lend strength as their fellow bikers. The very cool Lisa Bonet and the very fine Meagan Good play Smoke's and Kid's respective love interests. Reviews for Biker Boyz
Though the bikes are fast, the drama idles, with corny characters taking themselves more seriously than heads of state negotiating arms treaties.
As films go, it's as bad as an Elvis movie some of the time and better than an Elvis movie, but not by much, the rest of the time.
An endurance-testing racing drama, Biker Boyz is wildly overdirected, and its slight story feels more padded than a rubber room.
The jolting stunts and competitive races deliver all the excitement you'd want. You'll be disappointed only if you insist on a plot and complex characters.
It's too long and self-consciously progressive to be entertaining, but it's too well-intentioned to be dismissed altogether.
The only enjoyment you'll get is laughing at the dopey slang and the cast's ridiculously macho glares and stares.
The characters are largely uninteresting, the movie has little panache and the motorcycle races blend one into another.
There's a good story in here somewhere, but it's been dumbed down for Biker Boyz.
Even if you don't know much about motorcycles going in, by the end of Biker Boyz, the words 'manifold exhaust' may suddenly seem clear to you.
In some ways, watching Biker Boyz is like watching two hours of chest-bumping.
It's a mild one among biker pics, a tricycle only pretending to be a Hog.
There are a couple of really flashy stunt scenes but there aren't enough of them to carry the flick, forcing moviegoers to focus on the lame story and its sad sack of disconnected characters.
