"Blade: The Series" Draws (Much) Nearer
by Scott Weinberg | May 12, 2006

OK, so we're reporting on a TV show -- but it's a TV show based on a series of movies AND a very popular comic book character, so close enough. Remember that "Blade" series we talked about last year? Well, it's ready to hit the airwaves next month and IGN TV has a bunch of clips you might want to check out.

From IGNTV: "Premiering June 28th at 10pm on Spike TV is 'Blade: The Series', and IGN TV has your exclusive look at behind-the-scenes videos from the series! Based on the Marvel character made famous in New Line's movie trilogy, the series focuses on the half-man, half-vampire as he battles the Vampire House of Chthon in Detroit.

As one of the most powerful houses, Chthon has vampires and "familiars" (humans who wish to be vampires) in key positions at every level of society from politicians to beat cops. When Blade (Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones) and his partner Shen (Nelson Lee) arrive in Detroit, the House of Chthon is in the early stages of a plot that will increase their influence over the other vampire houses and might even destroy Blade in the process."

I'm guessing that this will be awful! After all, the first movie was the only one with any sort of appeal...so I can't imagine dragging the series out even longer will do anyone any good.

How can they do this?
Wesley Snipes owns this character. Without him I don't think this title should draw many followers. I guess this just confirms that there will be no more Blade movies. So instead of feeling exitement, I'm bummed.
