Someone’s got Terry McCaleb’s number. A veteran FBI profiler, McCaleb (CLINT EASTWOOD) is unrelenting in his pursuit of justice and unequalled in his success at tracking and catching murderers.
But as he closes in on his latest adversary – a psychopath dubbed “The Code Killer” by the media – McCaleb is felled by a massive heart attack and forced into early retirement.
Two years later, a beautiful stranger (WANDA De JESÚS) reveals a secret that compels McCaleb to re-examine his recovery: his life was saved by someone else’s death – the victim of a murder that remains unsolved.
Against the advice of his cardiologist (ANJELICA HUSTON) and with the help of an eager neighbor (JEFF DANIELS), McCaleb literally puts his life on the line to track down a murderer who has forced him to take this case personally.
He’s a heartbeat away from catching the killer.

Reviews for Blood Work
It's not an important picture, and probably not even a memorable one, but I had a good time.
An intriguing setup, filled with colorful characters, lots of humor and well-developed scenes.
The strength of the picture, directed by Eastwood, is that it has three intersecting story arcs: The investigation, the health issues, and the relationship that builds, step by step.
Eastwood winces, clutches his chest and gasps for breath. It's a spectacular performance - ahem, we hope it's only acting.
I would have rather watched Clint’s heart transplant than this lethargic, poorly made movie.
Between Connelly's imagination and what Eastwood committed to celluloid, mistakes were made
A tidy, somewhat predictable package...solid entertainment for the mainstream audience
A cleverly constructed and surprisingly soul-searching suspense thriller from a screen icon who's begun to contemplate his own mortality.
Eastwood's skill with actors and with the tone of Blood Work, which is weary, bemused and suspenseful, bode well for his career as a director, whenever he decides to stop baring his torso to actresses who weren't even born when he joined AARP.
Eastwood is an icon of moviemaking, one of the best actors, directors and producers around, responsible for some excellent work. But even a hero can stumble sometimes.
Remember back when thrillers actually thrilled? When the twist endings were actually surprising? When the violence actually shocked? When the heroes were actually under 40? Sadly, as Blood Work proves, that was a long, long time ago.
What Blood Work lacks in speed and surprise it almost makes up for in doughty professionalism.
A methodical police procedural that never is as engaging or as enjoyable as the twitching, hoarse-voiced, effortlessly charismatic Eastwood is to watch.
If you enjoy being rewarded by a script that assumes you aren't very bright, then Blood Work is for you.
Blood Work is one of those crime thrillers where the filmmakers can't see the forest for the trees.
