The Bourne Identity Following the smash worldwide success of 2002's The Bourne Identity, Universal Pictures brings the second installment of best-selling author Robert Ludlum's series to the screen with Matt Damon returning as trained assassin Jason Bourne in The Bourne Supremacy. The Bourne Supremacy re-enters the shadowy world of expert assassin Bourne (Damon), who continues to find himself plagued by splintered nightmares from his former life. The stakes are now even higher for the agent as he coolly maneuvers through the dangerous waters of international espionage--replete with CIA plots, turncoat agents and ever-shifting covert alliances--all the while hoping to find the truth behind his haunted memories and answers to his own fragmented past. Compelling use of exotic worldwide locations and the muscular cinematic edge brought by vanguard director Paul Greengrass (writer/director of Bloody Sunday) maintain the aggressive style and fresh, non-traditional perspective established in The Bourne Identity: The Bourne Supremacy is the latest entry in a refreshingly new breed of that time-honored genre, the espionage thriller. The Bourne Supremacy is produced by Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley and Paul L. Sandberg; and directed by Paul Greengrass from a screenplay by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Identity), based on Ludlum's book of the same name. [More]

Much like Spider-Man 2, this action sequel...essentially delivers more of exactly what you'd expect, along with a blatant hook for the inevitable part three.

A worthy, but slightly lesser followup to the surprise 2002 hit, 'The Bourne Identity.'

Dizzying editing and camera work will bother some, and the sheer complexity of the telling will confuse more people.

A convoluted concoction of shaky hand-held camera shots and stomach-churning edits meant to simulate the feeling you’d get if you were tossed over Niagara Falls in a barrel.

Frantic and fresh, "The Bourne Supremacy" is a chic spy thriller that's even better than the original.

The old-school Cold War spy thriller is Bourne again.

Much like Bourne, the film is a lean, mean, killing machine, and the action, near constant, is frightfully good.

The Bourne Supremacy is an exceptional thriller that is a sequel to a good one... Power runs through every frame, making the smallness of the world itself seem scary.

I felt like I was Jason Bourne watching the movie, because I was one step ahead of it the entire way through...but even when Bourne is not at his best, he's still impressive.

Damon, who carries a certain blankness and anger with him, is right at home playing people who don't quite fit in and are tying desperately to find where they belong.

Rank[s] as a solid sequel, one that plays to the original's strengths as a sleek, brainy alternative to cartoonish James Bond bloat.
