Gael Garcia Bernal Could Be Next "Bourne" Villain
by Scott Weinberg | October 03, 2006
Discuss Article
First we hear that David Strathairn has joined the cast of "The Bourne Ultimatum," and now comes word that international star Gael Garcia Bernal is on the top of the producers' list for the role of Head Baddie.

From The Hollywood Reporter: ""The Bourne Ultimatum," the third installment of Universal Pictures' successful action series, began shooting this week in Tangier, but it is still without a worthy nemesis for its amnesiac spy hero, Jason Bourne. With the clock ticking, an offer has gone out to Gael Garcia Bernal to take on the role, though negotiations have not yet begun. Matt Damon is back as Bourne, and Joan Allen and Julia Stiles are back as well. David Strathairn also has joined the cast."

Wow - it would be great if he joined the cast and made a more fun movie than what we are used to seeing from him. He is such a talented actor and he doesnt get the recognition he deserves. At least this will net him a few quid and put him in the spotlight so more roles will be open to him. Loved him in The King

awesome
Gael Garcia Bernal is definetly on level with acotrs like Edward Norton or Dicaprio as one of the greatest young actors around. He has appeared in probably more films than the other two combined but still has not broken into the American mainstream-- oh wait, I forgot we hate subtitles and can no longer stand dubbing, foreign films don't stand a chance

v. exciting.
Gael is an amazing actor. Even if The King was terribly mediocre, his performance was still top notch. Can't wait to see what he does with this role.

Kinda lame that they don't mention at all what type of role he will be playing.

There is one thing I hope for in the final Bourne movie....more hand to hand combat!!

How can you start production of a movie, without having filled out the entire cast? Isn't that very... risk-ay? I know what you're thinking, and yes, believe it, I said risk-ay!!

Well, they are probably going to shoot all the stuff that dosen't involve tha main baddie so I am sure they will find one in time and maybe the script dosen't call for the villian to appear in all the movie like it was in mission impossible 3.

Besides all this unless Gael has changed his mind for the allmighty dollar or any other reason, he was quoted that at the moment he was not interested in appearing in hollywood films, that he was quite content with what he was doing.
