The computer animation crew at Pixar--the creators of TOY STORY--return with another feature rife with stunningly rendered worlds populated by cute critters you can't help but care about. The story is simple--an ant colony led by Flik (Dave Foley) seeks help from a flea circus and other insects in their struggles against the oppressive grasshopper bullies led by Hopper (Kevin Spacey). However, as with TOY STORY, there is as much for adults to enjoy here as there is for the kids. (In fact, the story is loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's classic SEVEN SAMURAI.) And don't miss the wonderful "outtakes" that roll with the closing credits! [More]

Computer animation is an artform that will have a long impact. A Bug's Life is on the ground floor of a cinematic revolution. History is being made.

You'll need to see it twice to appreciate the scope of the movie's visual wit and technological mastery. It also has the funniest credit sequence I have ever seen -- be sure to watch all the way to the end to enjoy it.

Heads and shoulders above ANY animated film of the last year, and better than most live action movies, too.

Whereas Antz finds some of its edgy inspiration in Kafka by way of Woody Allen, A Bug's Life is mired comfortably in the pastel mediocrity of Gumby.

I was positively floored by the artwork in A Bug's Life, in which computerized images are often so realistic you forget the entire thing is a cartoon.

I enjoyed the use of animation to visualize a world that could not be seen in live action and could not be created with special effects.

This breakneck-paced, understatedly clever, Disney/Pixar release wins in a split decision over DreamWorks' previously released Antz.

Silly enough for kids, smart enough for adults, grandly-staged enough for anyone who loves movies.

Lasseter and Pixar broke new technical and aesthetic ground in the animation field with Toy Story, and here they surpass it in both scope and complexity of movement while telling a story that overlaps Antz in numerous ways.

It's easy to go along for the ride, be immersed in this magical world on the wide screen, laugh at the repartee and relate to the action.
