In the end there is something rather depressing about a film willing itself to be so crappy.

Reviews
The cheerfully weird plot and hilariously bad acting are all part of the film's self mockery, which betrays a love for the genre's cheesy roots.
This kind of thing has been done before and it’s been done better, too.
Lacking gags, proper characters or any comprehensible plot, it never rises above a one-joke movie - and that joke's on us. It's humour Jim, but not as we know it.
Dull and dreary despite DeVison’s enthusiasm, take heart in remembering the chances of catching Captain Eager on a big screen are nil.
Simon DaVison’s loopy labour of love succeeds where other offerings of pure homage (most recently ‘Grindhouse’) failed.
Simon DaVison gets the charmingly clunky look and feel of 1950s SF spot on - but he also captures the genre's more tedious shortcomings a little too accurately for the average viewer's patience to bear.
