Oscar® nominee Leonardo Di Caprio ("What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "Titanic") and two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks ("Philadelphia," "Forrest Gump") engage in a game of cat and mouse in the real-life crime drama "Catch Me If You Can," under the direction of three-time Oscar® winner Steven Spielberg ("Saving Private Ryan," "Schindler's List"). Frank Abagnale, Jr. (Leonardo Di Caprio) worked as a doctor, a lawyer and as a co-pilot for a major airline -- all before his 18th birthday. A master of deception, he was also a brilliant forger, whose skill gave him his first real claim to fame: At the age of 17, Frank Abagnale, Jr. became the most successful bank robber in the history of the United States. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) had made it his prime mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but Frank is always one step ahead of him, baiting him to continue the chase. Steven Spielberg will direct "Catch Me If You Can," from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson, based on the autobiographical book of the same name by Frank Abagnale, Jr. and Stan Redding. The film is being produced by Steven Spielberg and Walter F. Parkes ("Gladiator"), with Barry Kemp, Laurie MacDonald, Michel Shane and Tony Romano executive producing. -- © DreamWorks Pictures [More]

This movie got me grinning. There's a part of us that cannot help be entertained by the sight of someone getting away with something.

Spielberg being Spielberg, he’s surrounded himself with the best that money can buy, from the superb cast to the characteristically superb score by John Williams, and the result is his most purely enjoyable film in ages.

With its extended epilogue, the film feels about a half-hour too long, but the story is so good and there are so many fabulous set pieces that you can't imagine leaving anything out.

The movie is -- intentionally or otherwise -- a remarkable parable about denying reality until reality catches up to you.

The stylish, cartoon-like opening credits reminded me of the snazzy beginnings of the Peter Sellers-Pink Panther movies.

Steven Spielberg’s new film is lighthearted and enjoyable, with just enough undercurrents of human frailty to keep the story interesting.

It's Spielberg who pulls the con by leading us down a familiar path only to rup the rug out from under us.
