The bad news is, the Celts are playing the Utah Jazz -- and their egotistical superstar player, Lewis Scott. On the eve of the climactic seventh game, Mike and Jimmy meet Lewis at a nightclub. One thing leads to another, and while drunk, the two Celtic fans kidnap Lewis. The next morning, the pair awaken to find Lewis bound and gagged in their apartment. They quickly realize what they've done -- but are also aware that the Utah Jazz will probably lose without Lewis. Will Mike and Jimmy keep Lewis hostage in a desperate attempt to help their team win? Or will they let Lewis go... and watch a Celtic victory go down the drain? [More]

An uneven but largely likable basketball-themed comedy.

Celtic Pride supplies predictably lowbrow yocks for jocks, and its rather disturbing racial implications go entirely unacknowledged.

A desperately unfunny comedy, and what's worse is that the premise really COULD have been something solid!

This is a bad time for NBA fans in Boston. Just as their beloved Celtics are about to wrap up a dismal season, with nearly 50 losses and no berth in the playoffs, Hollywood comes out with a comedy about the Celtics that's even worse than the team.

Celtic Pride isn't the worst sports comedy ever made, but it certainly could have been better.

Not only is the picture woefully short on laughs, it's also coarse, overbearing and, in places, downright insulting.

You don't even have to be a Celtics fan to appreciate it. In fact, considering who becomes the butt of the film's ultimate joke, perhaps it's best if you're not one.
