Paul Reisner, a Jewish doctor, finds himself squarely in the middle of all these rapid changes. The victim of anti-semitism in the medical school where he trains, he gratefully accepts the attention and affection of Mandry, one of the institute's major professors. But when his adored mentor refuses even to look at some important research conducted by one of Paul's friends, Paul begins to doubt the validity of Mandry's opinions. And when he learns about some of Mandry's experiments, Paul realizes he has to do something to stop him -- or some innocent people might die. [More]
