Beckinsale On Catwoman, Wonder Woman, And Her Bond Girl Offer
by Jen Yamato | August 03, 2007

Summary

One of the highlights of the super-long Whiteout panel at Comic-Con came when Kate Beckinsale popped in, fashionably late, and addressed a handful of roles she's been rumored to play. Back to Article

Beckinsale as wonder Woman would be perfect.

Beckinsale as Wonder Woman would be perfect. She has the face, the bod and that look in her eyes.

The funny thing about some of these posts is that the women who came to be known as Amazons in the modern lexicon would actually cut off their right breast so as not to impede their ability to shoot a bow.

I guess Rex has to change his position to "Amazons were women with CURVE" since the plural is obviously out of place.

RexLaboro, I couldn't agree with you more.

Wonder Woman should be a tall, strong, cliche "Amazon" woman looking. Only people I've seen mentioned are too short and "dainty". You don't have to have a muscle-bound freak, but someone taller and a stern looking, like a younger Sigourney Weaver would be great. Should at least be 5' 11'' or 6', Sophia Bush, who was rumored is only 5' 6", Beckinsale is only a little taller at 5' 8", and neither look the part.

Well as long as everyone is throwing out their favorite Catwoman actresses, mine is Julie Newmar. Go watch the old Adam West Batman. Yeah, I know it was unbelievably cheesy but Newmar was unbelievably HOT! IMO, she was the most sexy and seductive Catwoman to ever grace the screen.

Beckinsale looks right for the part but I don't think her acting ability is up to par with what we've seen so far from Bale's Batman.

Why is Hollywood going after women who are in their mid-thirties and forties to play these roles as heroes? Why not go after young actresses. I think that actress Meagon Good would make a beautiful catwoman with her body figure. And I think Jessica Alba or Scarlett JoHanssen would make a good wonder woman. I mean go after something that would impress someone.

I wouldn't really care if they didn't or did make a wonder woman movie. I think she would make a good bond girl and could pull off catwoman.

ageism anyone?? Why do you feel all the actresses have to be young? There are a lot of good looking "older" women who can play the part of Wonder Woman much better than these young starlets you mention. Did you see Jessica Alba in Fantastic 4?? Or Scarlett Johansen in "The Island"?

"Curves? Do you even know what the word 'Amazon' means? ...not that the Wonder Woman creators knew either, or cared."

Why when people rush to tell you your wrong about something they never include how or why your wrong? Anyway, Wonder Woman will look ridiculous as one of these toothpick bitches. Not really looking forward to this film, but im sure WHATEVER they do, it will suck. Just a gut feeling.

Arguing about Wonder Woman again? I thought that project was axed.

The only woman that I've ever seen play a supposed "amazon" that I thought was great in the part was Lucy Lawless as Xena.

i'm sorry but, wasn't she half naked in all the vampire movies she's done? she showed EVERYTHING but the good stuff in the Underworld movies...so the whole Bond thing...seems like bs. i love how the actresses we WANT to play the roles...turn it down, and the ones we don't want to see(halle berry in catwoman, richards in Bond)...we do see. please, for the love of christ...don't make another catwoman.

Elixor, the only chic i know that fits your profile is that volleyball player who's like 6'1. she did playboy a few years ago but her name escapes me. i've seen her in some tv stuff but not the best actress. best bet is to go for somebody who'll bring in the $, not necessarily somebody "fit for the character".

Aw, freak me sideways!

Kate Beckinsale, who I love to see, may be in another flick requirin' the luscious latex from Underworld... Wow, that'd be somethin' to see. I could see her pullin' the Catwoman role off nicely. And she'd look nearly perfect for Wonder Woman. She has a very dominant, distinct image that familiarizes her with certain characters that would prove beneficial in her career. Best of luck to her and her family.

I'm still hoping for Morena Baccarin even though Joss Whedon is off the project.

Kate Beckinsale is a true hottie, but she wouldn't be a very convincing WW. She'd be an excellent catwoman though. Wonder Woman has to be as tall or almost as tall as Superman and have a strong physique. That's the way it's always been. Her and Supes always have that great sexual tension between them because they have so much in common, physically and emotionally. Only WW can really handle Supes when he lets loose, if you catch my drift.

And whoever it was that posted something about a young Sigourney Weaver as wonder woman - have you ever seen Weaver with no makeup on? She's hidious. Not that I'm hating on Weaver, I love her. But c'mon.

Phew, She looks very attractive, Ms. Beckinsale...
Catwoman? Wonderwoman? Whatever, man...
She could play a cheese-sandwich in a movie for all I care...
I'd be there to see it.
