Consensus: Aside from the unnecessary plot about a downed US spy satellite, there's not much difference between the movie and the TV show.

With the help of wife Terri and dog Sue, Irwin embarks on another series of dangerous missions--rescuing snakes, spiders, and baby kangaroos from their current locations and transferring them to safer spots in the Australian Outback. Since this is a feature film, director John Stainton and screenwriter Holly Goldberg Sloan concoct a fictional story to give Irwin's adventure an added kick in the tail. Their concept, a sufficiently outlandish one concerning a shotgun-wielding cattle rancher (Magda Szubanski), CIA operatives, and a missing U.S. government satellite, does the trick quite nicely. The point of this picture, and in fact, the point of anything Steve Irwin-related, is Steve Irwin himself. And with COLLISION COURSE, Irwin proves that his cartoon-like presence is a supremely engaging one, no matter the venue. But Irwin is neither a sensationalist or an exhibitionist. He's a lover of animals as well as nature, and it is this childlike fascination with the earth's deadliest creatures that makes him such a wonder to behold. Crikey! [More]

Reviews for The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
As it stands, Crocodile Hunter has the hurried, badly cobbled look of the 1959 Godzilla, which combined scenes of a Japanese monster flick with canned shots of Raymond Burr commenting on the monster's path of destruction.
It's hard not to love a man who offers his mug as a resort and spa for thirsty insects.
Everything that's worthwhile about Collision Course can already be seen on television.
Possibly the most unintentionally hilarious film since Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space, Steve Irwin's big-screen debut is destined to become an instant cult classic.
The kind of cinematic slop that will only appeal to those who expect no difference between what they get on television for free and films they need to pay to see.
Folks who already dig Irwin's goofy Down Under demeanor will get more than a tickle; parents will appreciate the film's edutainment factor.
Listening to Steve Irwin for very long is rather like hearing the proverbial fingers across a blackboard.
As a wildly popular TV star and director of the Australia Zoo wildlife reserve, Steve Irwin has rescued 100 crocodiles, personally wrangling them for relocation. But he's powerless to save his movie debut.
Collision Course is only enjoyable when the Irwins are on the screen, which is about half the time. These Aussies have enough presence to carry an entire movie. Maybe next time they'll be given the chance.
Fearless Aussie Steve Irwin brings his TV show to the big screen with a corny but fun spy plot attached.
You see a couple of likable people journeying though the outback, encountering dangerous critters and getting too close for comfort, while lecturing us on their habits and dangers and almost being killed by them.
However ineptly made, Crocodile Hunter is a movie that diverse audiences will like -- but only because Steve Irwin is in it.
Irwin is a man with enough charisma and audacity to carry a dozen films, but this particular result is ultimately held back from being something greater.
... (like)channel surfing between the Discovery Channel and a late-night made-for-cable action movie.
As it stands, however, with its switching back and forth between screen ratios and the horrible, tacked-on subplot, the film simply doesn't work that well.
