Not surprised Dark Knight got only 1 nomination. The Golden Globes and Oscars have been favoring the smaller independent films. Not saying that these films are bad or that should nominate films based on box office numbers. However, this trend will continue to result in low ratings.

Just because The Dark Knight wasn't an indie film doesn't mean it should be punished. The Golden Globes are a bit of a joke by not recognizing Nolan, the film and the screenplay. Hopefully the Oscar people don't stick to the indie only trend.

The Dark Knight got what it deserved. If it weren't for Ledger that film would suck Simon Cowell's testies.

The Dark Knight I think is a great flick but nothing amazing, I do think it deserved what it got her but yes I think Nolan should be recognized also I am suprise Aronofsky wasn't nominated. I am REALLY suprised IN BRUGES picked up some nominations because its not that well know, but it was an AWESOME movie.

It sucks that Robert Downey Jr or Tom Cruise will not win even though they did a much better job than the druggie Heath Ledger. It is also crap that WallE was not nominated for best picture.

In Bruges was predictable in the sense that it came across as if it was made for one reason and that was to become the darling of the award season. Nothing spectacular about it movie wise. As for the nominations, what else is on television that night?

i can't believe it, another year goes by and i didn't get nominated...

same old boring crap year in and year out. at least i know what movies to avoid now. one nom for TDK is pathetic. they got their praise from the fans i guess but god forbid uppity artsy idiots follow suit. i agree with carney fan, not even nominating nolan or the screenplay is stupid. the movie is one of the best grossing movies EVER for a reason...and yet it gets 1 nom? the ratings will peak whenever they announce if ledger won or not. the rest? snooze...

The Golden Globes are just an Oscar pretender show yet they can't even seem to predict them right. For each of the last 4 years, the winner of Best Picture at the Globes did not win the Oscar for best pic. Even sadder is that the Globes get 2 cracks at it because of the division of comedies / musicals and dramas. I mean seriously, the 53% Mamma Mia! is up for best picture yet TDK and Wall-E were ignored? And that brings me to another point: I HATE THE ANIMATED CATEGORY. It gives the voters an excuse not to nominate groundbreaking films like Wall-E brcause it gets its own category.

In Bruges was a drama. Just because it's a little offbeat or quirky doesn't mean it's a comedy. It's like saying Goodfellas was a comedy because of the signature Scorsese humor here and there.

People say the Golden Globes are supposed to be a barometer for how the Oscars will go, but Dark Knight will definitely get more Oscar nominations--and nods. It's ridiculous that just because the Dark Knight was so popular, it's beginning to get backlash from people "just because". If so many people hated it, then the DVDs/Blu-rays wouldn't be disappearing off the shelves so fast.

The Dark Knight will be big at the Oscars, and The Captain of Team Douchebaggery is an a$$hole for continuing to call Heath Ledger a druggie, when it's a FACT he died of an ACCIDENTAL overdose.

Stop sucking Downey Jr.'s **** for 10 seconds, so you can come up for air and live in the real world with the rest of us, loser.

it is the best live-action reviewed movie this year moron. Will it be the best film of 08...no. besides if you listen to any oscar buzz chris nolan is right up there with brown and fincher. it will be nominated for best director and win supporting actor. it is going to have to fight for a bp nom but it will get one

you TDK fanboys are hopelessly lost! Every year its like this, (i've been on RT for about 7 yrs now)around awards season the fanboys started to cry because their darling movie they overhyped themsleves up to fall in love with doesn't get the nominations it doesn't deserve. They are just so stuck in this self created delusion.

Well take solace in knowing you TDK fanboys won't be the first nor the last to experience this.

Kill Bill back in 2003, stupid movie which made the fanboys fall in love with, overuse of silly ultra violence silly dialog.

V for vendetta back in 05, the stupiest movie ever, but.. but... but ..natalie shaved her head for this role that always equal Oscars right????

Deathproof in 2007, a movie I almost walked out on. So distasteful so self indulgent, it was like watching tarantino wipe his butt after Taco bell Grande meal filmed the used tp and called it art, and guess what!!! the fanboys beleived it!

SIGH

Same crap every year (i want to see all BP nom) but why not change, same shat drama nomination every year, shock people, suprise them, give something different, i always expected that dramas will get the thir nom, im sure all the people in GG a bunch of old people that that hate comic book movies and think that that dramas are the best thing in the world, like the same shat happen in the Oscars of 98, 90, 94 but lets wait for the Oscars nom.

The Franco nom for Pineapple Express is awesome! I hope he wins that. The supporting actor noms have some good ones...Cruise vs. Downey vs. Ledger...I'd be alright with any of those winning.

I know it's blasphemy but I'd rather see Kung-Fu Panda get best Animated..Wall-E was good but it just was too sweet for me.

Finally, I am of the same sentiment as many of you above, I think there are too many indie movies on here that nobody's heard of and nobody is going to watch this show because of these poor choices.

The Dark Knight is not going to garner any more Oscar nominations than it did for the Golden Globes. In comparison to the other films that are nominated, The Dark Knight is just not up to par with the others. The Golden Globes are the more conservative of the awards shows, so there is now way in hell that the Academy Awards are going to be more rewarding towards TDK.

I feel like The Dark Knight got great reviews because, not only was it pretty good, but it was pretty great when compared to your average "comic book" flick. It is revolutionary in that genre, but when you place it next to films like Doubt, Frost/Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, it makes it easy to understand why it only received one nomination.

It is so funny that the reign would tell me to stop sucking RDJ **** for a minute and live in the real world when he cant stop sucking Heath the druggie Ledgers **** and is so dellusional to actually think that Dark Knight is a great movie. STOP SUCKING NOLANS **** AND LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD. Continue to think it is an accidental overdose, he was a pathetic man who pussed out on life and ODed.

P.S. On a side note, everywhere i have been Dark Knight has not been flying off the shelves, but Lost has.

there is no backlash, TDK's weakness was evident and obvious upon initial release, you fanboys just drowned it out with name calling and uncivilized discourse. And you fanboys bouyed the BO numbers with your insane amount of repeat veiwership, honestly tell everyone how many times you seen the film?
TDK never had the broad appeal like Spiderman or even Ironman, it reached a small and teeny tiny niche market and it reached it very well (I'm well aware of the BO numbers so quote that all you want). And now that its out on DVD, and attempting to reach a wider audience, well its failing.

TDK= Twilight, a niche film, well designed to reach the targeted audience. Hollywood is a business, and hype works, its ok to get into it a little bit but then move on, no need to get attached like a lost puppy.

--Yeah but TDK reached a general audience where Twilight didnt, and TDk was loved by critics and Twilight was crapped on. I do think The Dark Knight is a great movie but I didn't think it is amazing and it has a few little flaws that don't bother me much. Also did anyone else here get the DVD?!?! It sucks, for one of the biggest movies ever it has some crappy special features.

Also NOGARD saying the dvd is failing to reach the general audience is a bit of an understatement considering BLU RAY alone sold 600,000 copies and also can the movie really find a wider audience?!?! Didn't like everyone see it?!? Well I guess to you box office numbers don't mean much.
