on May 09 2008 06:20 AM Wow that guys got it in for Costner. Personally I don't see it being as huger hit as he reckons. I also question the necessity for a sequel. Not doing this movie sounds like a good decission to me. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 06:41 AM i agree chigurh. i think doing this sequel is a stupid idea and kostner, as lousy as his movies may have been, is right to turn this down. i actually give him props for not doing another crappy hollywood sequel. however, what really bothers me is if viggo does this movie. i have a high opinion of viggo and i would hate to see him trash his credibility by doing this. ![]() on May 09 2008 07:53 AM I'd be interested in seeing the sequel. I don't know if I'd need to have Costner or not. Viggo would probably do a great job. The one thing Costner does have though is a great narrator voice, which will be missed if the movie follows that same format as Dances. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 09 2008 08:02 AM I think I should've said solid narrator voice, and it really matches the character nicely. I should reserve 'great' for the likes of James Earl Jones and such. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 09:01 AM ....stupid. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 09 2008 09:09 AM I think it really comes down to the story. Is it a good story? If so, I would love to see Viggo takeover the role. I liked the first one. Who will take over "Stands With a Fist?" (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 09 2008 10:05 AM For the record, this isn't just someone making an unnecessary sequel for money necessarily; there was a literary sequel to Dances With Wolves. Personally, I think it sounds promising though without Costner directing or acting one has to wonder why it's being referred to as a sequel. It sounds like a sequel to Dances With Wolves the way Silence of the Lambs was a sequel to Manhunter. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 10:31 AM I'd prefer that Viggo star in my Western instead. :) But seriously, Costner is one of the worst major stars in history. I'm sorry, the guy has never been a good actor. The roles he's most famous for, like Dances With Wolves, he's merely "ok" in. But I'll probably check this out, because I'm a big Western fan. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 11:04 AM watch out viggo, incoming career staller. you best to smash a coffee pot in its face and then shoot it in the head a few times for good measure. what, first he's gonna do cormack mccarthy's 'the road' and then he's doing 'the holy road'? wait, was he in 'the road to el dorado'? at this rate, probably. i heard they're adapting robert frost's 'the road not taken,' so i guess there's no shortgage of work coming in for viggo. did you know he's originally from rhode island? point being mortensen, if you just got an oscar nom and are in demand, why take a project that kevin costner can afford to pass on? that guy's as desperate a film actor as they come and now you're gonna stoop BENEATH his level? c'mon... (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 10 2008 11:51 AM The one question I haven't heard answered is: "Is 'The Holy Road' a good book?" Could it possibly make a good movie? Despite the fact that it's a sequel that I had never even heard of, and that Kevin Costner wants no part of it, maybe it's a good story? I don't know. If there's a chance that it could be as good as DWW, I might go see it, regardless of who's acting or directing it. I didn't lose my respect for Costner until after Robin Hood, so I like DWW. If THR can be as good, I'm kind of excited, but skeptical. Crossing fingers... (Reply to this) |

on May 11 2008 11:30 AM In reply to this comment (#1727417) "Who will take over "Stands With a Fist?" How about Q'orianka Kilcher? She's a bit young, perhaps, but I think she's one of the most beautiful women in the world. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 11 2008 12:21 PM Not only does this movie not need a sequel but I didn't think there was anyone crazy enough to even want to make a sequel...guess there really is a shortage of new ideas out there. (Reply to this) |
