"Creepshow" Falls Prey to the Remake Machine
by Scott Weinberg | October 21, 2005

The Hollywood Reporter greets us with news of yet another horror remake. If "Dawn of the Dead," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "House of Wax," "The Amityville Horror," and "The Fog" haven't yet burnt you out on the whole remake schpiel, then get ready for a remake of the 1982 George Romero / Stephen King collaboration known as "Creepshow."

"Although in the original anthology the stories -- which were written in the old 1950s EC Comics style -- were unconnected, the plan is to structure the new movie a la "Go," where individual stories will have interconnected characters and situations."

Forgive my disruntled demeanor upon hearing this news, but perhaps someone at WB needs a refresher course on what the word "anthology" means. With "interconnected characters and situations," you have what's generally known as a "long story."

What's the point of calling it Creepshow then? If they are not following the original 3 stories? What's the link with the original?

Bring back Adrienne Barbeau!!!!

Another remake? Whatever happened to just ripping off the idea and creating pretty much the same story with a few minor changes? Hollywood's just getting lazy now!

the original "Creepshow" had five stories, not three.

Why not just make another sequel.
There must be millions of those stories out there, and they're going to just re-hash those five? Swell.

People will still flock to it.

The original was wonderfully campy and actually had adult actors in it. I'm sure this one will fit the mold of every other horror remake out there and be exclusively filled with crappy teen actors and marketed to them as well. Why are all these movies the same now? And why not cash in on some other horror movie name instead of Creepshow when they aren't even making it remotely similar to it. (no collection of stories but an interweaving structure) I have lost all faith in Hollywood

Your movie won't be ruined. It's still there on DVD in all its glory for you to watch. Just ignore this one when it comes out and everything will be fine.

It's not really a remake if it uses different stories.
